I love summer, especially because of all the fun colors you can add into your wardrobe. Right now, I am obsessed with mustard yellow. It almost seems like a neutral to me. I was out shopping this week and came home with so much of this color that I felt obligated to share my finds and also some of my favorite pieces
First up, is one of my favorite dresses, and of course it’s from Madewell. The quality of the fabric feels great on, especially for those hot summer days. Also, it is just so versatile! Even though I think this is the perfect dress for summer, this can easily be worn in the fall with a cream sweater and some booties or loafers. However, because it is still summer I decided to pair it with my favorite sneaker, my white platform converse. One of the best things about this dress, (besides the flattering silhouette) is that it can be dressed up or down. In these pictures, I styled it as if I were just hanging with friends or running errands. By adding a tiny heel or loafers and a cute bandana, this can easily be dressed up for a nice event with friends or even date night! Running true to size (for Madewell sizing) I am wearing an xs. For converse I always size a half size down, so I am wearing a size 7.

I’ve been having this obsession with midi skirts. I’m so drawn to them whether I’m window shopping or online shopping. I’ve been having a hard time finding one that looks flattering and that I will get good use out of. Luckily, I found this gem on the Urban Outfitters sale rack. I first was drawn to the bold mixing of patterns. Also at this sale price, you cannot beat it. This is such a playful piece for summer that can easily transition into fall with a chunky sweater and some converse or loafers. I decided to style this skirt for summer, because it was 100 degrees outside when I took these pictures. I am wearing my favorite summer sandals from DSW, and I paired it with a button down short sleeve shirt from Abercrombie & Fitch. There are faint stripes in a tan mixing with the cream color of the shirt but I think it adds a nice texture to the already mixing of patterns. I challenge you guys to try mixing patterns with your outfits! When it’s done right it’s a fun way to add more character and life to your style. I am wearing a size small in the skirt. I think I could have used the xs for the waist, but it still fits okay in the small. For the shirt I am wearing a size medium for a looser fit. The shoes run small so I am actually wearing a size 8 in these sandals.

Aside from my new skirt addiction, I am also hat obsessed. I am so obsessed with hats right now, that I make my roommates come in and dance (probably to Christina Aguilera) wearing all of my hats with my neon light glowing in my room! (hahaha that’s what you get for living with all dancers). Anyway, I have been eyeing this lieutenant hat for about a year and I just could never commit to the price. However, the other day Free People was having an accessories sale and I snagged it for 50% off. I was stoked. I paired it with a wrangler striped bodysuit that fits amazingly and my favorite Madewell shorts. One of my favorite thing about this hat is that it’s not confined to one season. I can wear it in the summer with shorts or a sun dress, and then in the fall and winter I can pair it with jeans, boots and chunky sweaters. I am wearing a size small in the hat. The bodysuit I am wearing a size small as well. It is sold out on the Urban Outfitters website in a small, so I am linking it to the wrangler website where it is also on sale and in stock. For the shorts, I am wearing a size 25. If you’ve never tried on Madewell jeans or shorts, I suggest you go and try them on asap!
