I’m back and ready to talk about one of my favorite topics right now: SKINCARE. Skincare is something that I definitley misunderstood for a long time. And honestly with it being such a saturated market it can be overwhelming knowing where to start.
About a year ago, I transitioned my whole makeup bag over to non-toxic, clean makeup, and that is what sparked my interest in skincare. Thanks to the Detox Market and Credo Beauty, I was able to find some products that really worked for me. I never had bad skin necessarily, but when I moved to Arizona from New Jersey when I was 18 I noticed I had small bumps under my skin that had never been there before. Unfortunately they ended up sticking around even when I moved to Los Angeles. It was super unnoticable but noticeable to me. I tried all the acne fighting products that in reality left my skin stripped of everything it actually needed. Then I was too scared to use moisturizer because I (falsely) believed moisturizer would make me break out even more. Long story short, after I switched over to fully non toxic, clean makeup and skincare my skin cleared up. I finally found an amazing nightime skin care routine that is non toxic and clean and I am very excited to share them with you! Feel free to click the pictures to shop.
Step 1: Face Wash
I used to use: Clean and Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub
Now I use: Odacite Black Mint Cleanser
My Skin feels so clean after using it, but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and stiff. Plus the mint smell is to die for. It feels like I am at the spa everytime I use it.
Step 2: Serum #1
I used to use: Stridex Acne Control Pads
Now I use: Native Atlas Sahara Rewind Tonic
This liquid exfoliant is a game changer. The Stridex pads completely stripped my skin, and I feel like my skin looks less tired and brighter. I apply it every other night or twice a week with a cotton ball swiping in an upward motion.
Step 3: Serum #2
I never used a serum before so…
Now I use: Herbivore- Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum
I love this serum! As I am approaching 26 in June, I am obviously trying to stop my wrinkles from coming out. (I am eyerolling at myself right now too, don’t worry.) But seriously, you can never start too early. I like this because it’s a clean alternative to retinol. I’ve never used retinol before so I can’t say if it works better, worse, or the same, but I do think my complexion does look smoother and softer than before.
Step #4: Spot Acne Treatment *My FAV product*
I used to use: Mario Bedescu Drying Lotion
Now I use: Odacite Bl+C Black Cumin & Cajeput Pimples Serum Concentrate
I’m obsessed! No joke, I put this oil on my pimples at night and I wake up and they’re gone the next morning. It doesn’t leave my skin dry either, I swear this is a magic potion in a little bottle. If I don’t have any noticeable spots on my face, I will put 2-3 drops in my lotion everynight just for maintence. And I think it smells good too!
Step 5: Moisturizer
I was too scared of moisturizer before so…
Now I use: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream
I’ve been using this lotion for about a year and I love it. It doesn’t make me break out, but it has enough in it to make my skin feel hydrated.
Step 6: Serum #3
Now I use: Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
I bought this one pretty recently to help reduce fine lines. So far, I feel like it has been helping but I’m not sure if I would re-purchase it because I feel like it does that same thing as the Herbivore Bakuchiol Serum.
Step 7: Eye Cream
I used to use: Clinique All About Eyes
Now I use: 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
This is my favorite product and SO affordable! I have naturally dark circles under my eyes, and this has drastically reduced them. I wake up looking more awake and with less dark circles. This eye cream is a must!
That’s my 7 step night time skincare routine! Let me know if you try any of these products and if they work for you!
Happy to be back.
